The environmentally-conscious have always been looking for alternatives to eating meat that are sustainable, and we feel that. It’s always been a point of pride for us to run a sustainable practice, as well as to offer vegetarian and vegan options on our menu.
When completing the interior design of our first opening (our Campbellfield location) we focused on upcycling, using recycled pallets for the walls and seats inside. We have also placed an emphasis on recyclability when serving our products. Everything we serve our food in, including the cups for our shakes are all recyclable, and we go through the effort ensuring that they are recycled.
More recently this year, labs have been experimenting with meat substitutes, using ‘heme’, the molecule that gives beef its flavor, red color that cooks brown, and essentially just makes it behave like meat. Scientists have figured out how to extract this from certain legumes and have created a patty so similar to real beef, that supermarkets are now stocking these 0% meat products. Burger chains around Australia this year have started following suit as well, such as Hungry Jacks & Grill’d. We see the merit of this product, but we have a hard time justifying serving a fake-meat burger ourselves, because we don’t like ‘fake’.
We want to be completely honest and upfront with our customers, so instead of offering a mock version, we serve our own vegan and vegetarian options. Cultural cuisines from all over the globe, such as Middle-Eastern, Asian and European have perfected meat-free foods. From Spaghetti Napoli from Italy, to Tofu from all over Asia, to the famous falafel from the Middle East, appetites have been satisfied for hundreds of years without meat. So taking inspiration & going with tried-and-true methods, our range includes the Vegan Burgie, which includes a blended vegetable patty, fried cauliflower, our vegan mayo and tomato relish, as well as our Falafel Burgie, served with fresh white onion, pickles & hummus. Both served on a bun baked fresh daily, with baby cos lettuce.
These are our way of offering you a great meat-free experience, without the bells & whistles or disingenuous comparisons.
